Media Hysterical Over Rate Increase, Ignores Global Warming Tax

Pravda
You know what I find particularly interesting?
When we learned the cap and trade global warming tax to fight a problem that doesn’t even exist could raise our electric bills by 41%, it received a little coverage in the “mainstream” media, but was quickly forgotten by most.
Now that Black Hills Power wants to raise rates by 26.6% to expand capacity to meet growing demand (a real need that we’ve been ignoring for years), the “mainstream” media is working overtime and helping to bring complaints out of the woodwork and from underneath the carpets.
Just in the past few weeks we have:
- Black Hills Power customers protest rate request – Rapid City Journal
- Proposed Electric Rate Hike Sparks Worries - KELO
- Sanford Lab joins effort to intervene in BHP rate increase request – Black Hills Pioneer
- City considers filing objection to BHP rate increase – Rapid City Journal
- Possible electricity rate increase draws customer reactions - KOTA
- Industrial users protest BHP’s rate hike proposal – Rapid City Journal
- BHP proposed rate increase to put cities in budget crunch – Black Hills Pioneer
- Resistance grows against increase – Rapid City Journal
- Gillette may see electric rate increases – Billings Gazette
- Cities Would Feel Budget Crunch With BHP Increase – KCSR
- Proposed electric rate hike sparks worries in SD – AP
- Black Hills Power increase could have major effects on Spearfish, official says – Black Hills Pioneer
- Residents protest BHP rate hike plan – Rapid City Journal
- Rate Hike – KOTA TV
- Proposed rate hike could hamper cities, others - Rapid City Journal
- Utility Rate Increase Could Hurt School – KELO
- Hospital system fights electric rate hikes – Rapid City Journal
So we get all this from a 26.6% increase for a genuine need, and an increase 65% higher (41%) for a hoax that doesn’t even pass the smell-test of credibility gets a couple of mentions and a few yawns?
What in the world is wrong with this picture???
It looks like someone severely has their priorities screwed up! With perhaps the “mainstream” media leading the upside-down charge!
Because I think it’s a fairly safe bet that if the “mainstream” media had displayed half the hysteria over the cap and trade global warming tax bringing a 41% increase as they did this 26.6% increase for infrastructure, they’d have found at least as many people upset at being ripped off to feed Al Gore’s global warming hoax.
And this cap and trade global warming tax is like one of those infomercial deals you get on TV: if you act in the next 20 minutes, they’ll throw in a lot of extra goodies:
- No new power plants so that our energy grid is even more strained
- No new refineries (we haven’t built one in over 30 years, as it is) to further strain energy production
- Leave the poor in the lurch for a basic necessity
- Cost our state billions in lost GDP
- Separate thousands more South Dakotans from their jobs
- Reduce by millions the personal income of South Dakotans
- Raise gasoline prices by about 65 cents per gallon
- Hurt our competitiveness in the global market
- Government mandates for energy-efficient lamps
- Federal mandates on gov’t building upgrades costing the taxpayers more
- Mandates for global warming labels on appliances
- Shower Nazis in our homes to tell us how long we can shower
In what Orwellian liberal universe is a 26.6% rate increase to finance much-needed infrastructure a greater calamity and injustice than a 41% increase based on a hoax that destroys jobs, hurts consumers and retards energy development?
Those of you who are hysterical over this proposed rate increase: How does it feel to be manipulated by those you trust for honest, balanced information?
