Climate Unit Threw Out Original Global Warming Data

j0422446In continuing interesting developments in the ClimateGate scandal of leaked emails showing climate scientists cooking and massaging data to promote the theory of anthropogenic global warming, the British Times Online now tells us the scientists at the center of this hoax have dumped the original data behind their theory of apocalypse, leaving us with an incomplete trail of evidence.

The Climatic Research Unit (CRU) at the University of East Anglia in England have tossed out the original temperature data on which their theories of man-made global warming were based.

It means that other academics are not able to check basic calculations said to show a long-term rise in temperature over the past 150 years.

The UEA’s Climatic Research Unit (CRU) was forced to reveal the loss following requests for the data under Freedom of Information legislation.

So we finally–after the CRU ignored Freedom of Information requests–got something out of this secretive organization through Freedom of Information requests…after they’d had a chance to destroy what we were looking for.  Very interesting.

You might recall that some of the leaked emails mentioned the Freedom of Information Act and trying to hide things:

“If they ever hear there is a Freedom of Information Act now in the UK, I think I’ll delete the file rather than send to anyone”

And

“We also have a data protection act, which I will hide behind.”

And

“Can you delete any emails you may have had with Keith re [the IPCC’s Fourth Assessment Report]?”

But now all we have is their “revised” and “massaged” and “cooked” figures. Convenient, eh?

Continues the Times:

The data were gathered from weather stations around the world and then adjusted to take account of variables in the way they were collected. The revised figures were kept, but the originals — stored on paper and magnetic tape — were dumped to save space when the CRU moved to a new building.

The admission follows the leaking of a thousand private emails sent and received by Professor Phil Jones, the CRU’s director. In them he discusses thwarting climate sceptics seeking access to such data.

In a statement on its website, the CRU said: “We do not hold the original raw data but only the value-added (quality controlled and homogenised) data.”

The CRU is the world’s leading centre for reconstructing past climate and temperatures. Climate change sceptics have long been keen to examine exactly how its data were compiled. That is now impossible.

Am I the only person in America who has a real problem forking over huge amounts of my hard-earned dollars to pay a cap and trade global warming tax that President Barack Obama and his cronies in congress desperately hope to pass soon?

For a hair-brained theory that all along hasn’t passed the smell-test of credibility, and that we now see has involved a lot of data-cooking?

Based on the outrage I’m hearing from many other Americans, no, I’m not the only person who’s incredulous that our own government wants to kick around and rip off it’s own people on the pretense of a farce, a hoax.

With President Obama getting ready to head to Copenhagen to wrap our country in a straight-jacket known as the UN Climate Change Treaty, it’s time we got the word out to our friends and let our leaders know in no uncertain terms that we won’t stand for being assaulted like this by our own government.
