Baucus Health Care ‘Reform’ Bill Now Posted Online
The Politico reports the gargantuan Senate Finance Committe’s “Baucus Bill”, or S. 1796, has been posted online, coming in at a whopping 1,502 pages.
This beats even the House version, HR 3200, and it’s 1,017 pages
Apparently the bill is so flawed that Senators Kerry, Schumer, Menendez, Stabenow and Rockefeller have already published concerns, and a separate statement by Rockefeller.
This monstrosity not only violates the U.S. Constitution–which provides NO authority whatsoever for government administration of health care–but violates the common sense wisdom that laws so huge and lengthy and filled with complicated legalese are NOT good laws:
It will be of little avail to the people that the laws are made by men of their own choice, if the laws be so voluminous that they cannot be read, or so incoherent that they cannot be understood; if they be repealed or revised before they are promulgated, or undergo such incessant changes that no man who knows what the law is today can guess what it will be to-morrow. – James Madison, Federalist No. 62, 1788
Laws are made for men of ordinary understanding and should, therefore, be construed by the ordinary rules of common sense. – Thomas Jefferson
It would also run counter to the recognition of the founders that property rights are sacred, that it is wrong for government to rob from one person to give it to another, deserving or not:
The moment the idea is admitted into society that property is not as sacred as the laws of God, and that there is not a force of law and public justice to protect it, anarchy and tyranny commence. If `Thou shalt not covet’ and `Thou shalt not steal’ were not commandments of Heaven, they must be made inviolable precepts in every society before it can be civilized or made free. – John Adams, A Defense of the American Constitutions 1787
We’re well past due for replacing this liberal, socialist, anti-Constitutional government with people who take seriously their oath to the Constitution and their responsibility to safeguard the liberty of the people.
And the common patriots of America must turn up the public heat immediately and very high, for our dereliction of duty in recent years has given us this hostile and contemptuous government that is about to scuttle the greatest nation in history.
