Washington D.C. Tea Party Express a HUGE Success!
From what I can tell through internet news sources, it looks like the “mainstream” media is continuing to do it’s best to ignore the Tea Party movement and patriotic Americans who aren’t about to watch their country slide into a socialist abyss.
Nevertheless, word, pictures and video are making their way out of socialist-held territory in Washington of a huge crowd there today for the culmination of the Tea Party Express.
Right Pundits mentions an estimate of 1.5 million. Michelle Malkin said at 12:34 pm Eastern that capitol police estimate 1.2 million, and ABC reportedly announced 2 million in attendance, but I haven’t seen an original source report confirming this. Even if it was only the 20,000-30,000 organizers were predicting, that would still be fantastic, but it appears to be much bigger than that.
Even the ultra-Leftist rag the New York Times admitted
the magnitude of the rally took the authorities by surprise, with throngs of people streaming from the White House to Capitol Hill for more than three hours.
And
A sea of protesters filled the west lawn of the Capitol and spilled onto the National Mall on Saturday in the largest rally against President Obama since he took office
And it isn’t just President Obama they’re rallying against: it’s every socialist in Washington who pushes socialism and tries to wipe their noses with the U.S. Constitution.
Some of my fellow South Dakota patriots have some great coverage. Constant Conservative features a video compilation of some great footage from D.C. today. Some of my favorite signs and items: “Socialism Sucks; always has, always will,” “Dependency is a form of slavery,” “Socialism is not freedom,” and a black hears with “ObamaCare” on the side.
You know, I could definitely tell there were AMERICANS there today, not European socialist sheep serfs!
Meanwhile, Constitutionally Speaking has some awesome pics from Washington D.C. She has a great illustration in pictures-not-words that shows the difference between conservative patriots and government trough feeders. It reveals a truth on so many levels!
She also has a video from a webcam showing time-lapse footage of the crowd moving down what I think is Pennsylvania Avenue (not the section in front of the White House, but the section that runs down to the U.S. Capitol. What a huge group of patriots moving through there!
And don’t miss the picture of the massive crowd on the grass in the Mall, with the crowd extending down across a couple of streets, wrapping around the Washington Memorial and another clump on the lower right extending down toward the World War II memorial. **UPDATE: It came to light on 9/14 that whoever originated this photo somewhere out there on the internet grabbed it from a 1997 Promise Keepers event, so it is NOT a pic of Saturday’s event. I haven’t seen an aerial photo similar to this from Saturday’s events, but from the many I HAVE seen of various angles and localities near the capitol and along the mall lead me to believe 912 was not unlike this 1997 photo. Having walked the grounds of the Capitol Building and all along the National Mall from the Lincoln Memorial to the Capitol, I have a good feel for the area, and even the ground shots indicate the area was PACKED. The best estimates –by capital police–of around 1.2 million are probably accurate.
Someone at Free Republic posted a lot of pictures from the event. This one to the right is one of my favorites. BORG: Barack Obama Redistribution Government. Resistance is American.
Below is a video put together by a father and son who attended today’s rally. The son says in the video that he’s heard CNN is actually there, and actually reporting stuff. Amazing!
(Speaking of CNN, see the second video below of the Tea Party folks shouting over a CNN reporter “Tell the truth!” After the pathetic behavior of CNN (acting more like MoveOn.org fantatics) at the first national Tea Party, it’s no wonder they were telling the CNN babe to tell the truth.)
In the video I saw Tim Phillips of Americans for Prosperity who was in Rapid City not quite two weeks ago for the Hot Air Tour, along with a lot of other patriots. This video contains a lot of good clips of the crowd in various areas on and around Pennsylvania Avenue.
One sign said something to the effect that trusting the government with health care is like trusting Michael Vick with your dog. No kidding!
I’m going to Washington D.C. next week to cover the Value’s Voter Summit. As good as that’s going to be, I almost wish I had rather been there today for this historic event. So many patriots in one place in our nation’s capital–how awesome that must have been to be there!
CNN: Tell the Truth!
