Kerry last week sought to change the vernacular surrounding the climate bill and sell its concepts more broadly, insisting it is not a “cap and trade” proposal but a “pollution reduction” bill. “I don’t know what ‘cap and trade’ means. I don’t think the average American does,” Kerry said. “This is not a cap-and-trade bill, it’s a pollution reduction bill” (E&E Daily, Sept. 25).
Unfortunately for Kerry and his big-government comrades, the American people understand all too well exactly what a “cap and trade” global warming tax means.
Same jobs-killing, same freedom-robbing, same taxpayer-dollar-wasting, same cost-raising, foreign-trade smashing, home-invading legislation, but with a different name?
Kerry must be living in the past. He must be convinced this is the American of 15-20 years ago, when the “mainstream” media had a lock on the information the American people could get. Kerry must believe we are back in the days before talk radio, Fox News, the internet and all the New Media.
In other words, Kerry must believe the American people are still “mushrooms,” the way he and his socialist friends would like us to be.
The cap and trade global warming tax is based on the theory of anthropogenic global warming as the boogeyman that is supposed to scare us into handing over our hard-earned dollars and our liberty on the altar of earth worship.
But even if anthropogenic global warming were real, it would only lower global temperatures by 9/100ths of one degree…over more than 40 years.
The theory of anthropogenic global warming is based on bad science and lies. It is a nutty theory that doesn’t even pass the smell test of credibility, and the more we learn about it, the number of people who buy it falls.
The cap and trade global warming tax is nothing but a con and a scam.
It doesn’t matter if you call this legislation the “Hugs and Kisses of 2009″ bill, it’s still a raw deal and a ripoff of the American people, and we’re not buying it.
