Rationing by Any Other Name
by Victor Morawski We critics of ObamaCare may have been doing ourselves a bit of a disservice over the past few months by focusing on health care “rationing.” Yes, “rationing” best describes some of the most disconcerting effects of government run health care, and it strikes a chord with the general public. U.S. Constitution: The Originalist Perspective
Written constitutionalism implies that those who make, interpret, and enforce the law ought to be guided by the meaning of the United States Constitution–the supreme law of the land–as it was originally written. This view came to be seriously eroded over the course of the last century with the rise of the theory of the Constitution as a “living document” with no fixed meaning, subject to changing interpretations according to the spirit of the times.
The Meaning Of The Constitution
Part of the reason for the Constitution’s enduring strength is that it is the complement of the Declaration of Independence. The Declaration provided the philosophical basis for a government that exercises legitimate power by “the consent of the governed,” and it defined the conditions of a free people, whose rights and liberty are derived from their Creator. The Constitution delineated the structure of government and the rules for its operation, consistent with the creed of human liberty proclaimed in the Declaration.
This Little Piggy
This little piggy scares the markets, This little piggy steals homes, This little piggy has roast pork, This little piggy gets none (the taxpayer), And this little piggy (government) cries “Me, me, me!” And eats us out of house and home! From The Patriot Post (www.PatriotPost.US)
Survey: Some Christians Guided by Ideology More than Bible
The first-ever polls comparing conservative and progressive activists are revealing interesting differences in the religious community. For instance, while the majority of both groups say religion is important in their lives, nearly half of conservatives (48%) believe Scripture to be the literal word of God, while only three percent of progressives shared the same view.
Ignoring the Feds on Constitution Day!
When the Constitution was being considered for ratification, there was strong opposition from famous American figures that included George Mason and Patrick Henry. One major reason for this was a fear of too much power. The founding generation spent their lives toiling under a tyranny – a government without limits. But, when the Constitution was written, it was done to codify in law that the powers of government would be limited to those which had been delegated to it. The entire system was created under the principle of popular sovereignty – that ‘We the People of the Several States’ created the government, and all powers not delegated to it, were retained.
