“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen!” – Samuel Adams

Obama Admits: Cap and Trade Could Cost Americans $1,761 a Year

j0442235Liberals have tried very hard to downplay the incalculable damage the cap and trade global warming tax would do to the people and infrastructure of the United States, but it is undeniable (to all but the most dedicated Leftist Koolaid drinkers, that is).

And even their job of gulping down this socialist poison just got a little tougher.

According to CBS News,

The Obama administration has privately concluded that a cap and trade law would cost American taxpayers up to $200 billion a year, the equivalent of hiking personal income taxes by about 15 percent.

A previously unreleased analysis prepared by the U.S. Department of Treasury says the total in new taxes would be between $100 billion to $200 billion a year. At the upper end of the administration’s estimate, the cost per American household would be an extra $1,761 a year.

The documents upon which this report is based came out of a Freedom of Information request by the Competitive Enterprise Institute and released Tuesday.  The Obama Administration and Congress knew darn well what a ripoff this would be to the American taxpayer, and they tried to keep it quiet.

I don’t know about you, but I can think of A LOT of things I could better spend $146.71 a month on other than paying a tithe to the socialist’s fanciful global warming religion.

It would cost millions of jobs across the country,  contains all sorts of federal mandates, will hinder development of much-needed refineries, will stop development of needed power plants, will hurt foreign trade, would tell us how much water we can use in our own homes, require environmental inspections on your home and retrofitting before you can sell it, and contains a bunch of gobbledygook that no one understands (but could be used as a vehicle to take away even more of our freedom and prosperity).

The U.S. House has already passed it, and the Senate will soon be considering it.

The damage this bill would cost here in South Dakota alone has been calculated, and it isn’t pretty.

Some states like Alabama are preparing to directly reject this blatant unconstitutional intrusion into American’s lives, based on the protections of the U.S. Constitution and Tenth Amendment.

Besides being a terrible blow to the welfare of the United States, this insane bill purports to remedy a problem that doesn’t even exist.

The evidence that any warming of our planet is natural and cyclic is overwhelming. The contention that human activity is causing the earth to heat up is completely unsupported; it is based on junk science using flawed models and a healthy measure of Leftist ideology to bridge the gap.  From the climate data going back thousands of years showing great rises and falls in temperature, to the correlation between solar activity and global temperature, to the global warming occurring on Jupiter and Mars, this silly idea just doesn’t hold up at all.

This has been revealed as nothing but a scam in Europe, and that’s all it would be here.  It is nothing but a transparent vehicle for socialist wealth redistribution.

Our senators need to know that (along with the representatives who voted for this in June) if they vote for this egregious assault on the American way of life, they’ll be getting their walking papers as soon as they’re up for re-election.

As the Tea Party movement has illustrated in the last six months, the American people are fed up with being sold out by their own “representatives” and aren’t going to take it sitting down any more.
