Joel Rosenberg at the Values Voter Summit

Author Joel Rosenberg spoke tonight at the Family Research Council’s Values Voter Summit in Washington D.C.

Rosenberg is the author of several best-selling fiction novels about intrigue in the Middle East (I’ve read all but the last one) and several non-fiction books about the Middle East.  Rush Limbaugh highly recommends Rosenberg’s works, and his first fiction book (The Last Jihad) was somewhat prescient of the Iraq War.

His father is Jewish and his mother is Gentile, by the way, and by his writings he seems to be a genuine Christian…with a LOT of knowledge of Jewish history.

Rosenberg said these were interesting times in which we live, what with President Barack Obama announcing we will be pulling back from supplying our East European allies with missile defense technology…even as we learn the IAEA says the Iranians now have the capability to build a nuclear weapon.

Rosenberg talked about a new film he has along with the book Inside the Revolution about Islamic terrorism.

Rosenberg said that Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is a “true believer’ who believes that he can usher in the coming of the messiah (as Muslims recognize a messiah).  He believes he is chosen for that moment, and he believes the end of the world is only a few years away.  Annihilating the U.S. is a way to usher that in, he believes.

Rosenberg said North Korea is starving for cash and has long-range missiles.  Iran has cash but no long-range missiles.  This, said Rosenberg, is “a match made in hell.”

You may recall that during last year’s presidential campaign, Barack Obama said Iran was just a “tiny” country and pose no threat.  This is the man now running our country, the man who wants to scuttle missile defense and cut back our military in most areas.

Rosenberg said some people make the mistake of believing Islamic radicals like Ahmadinejad can be reasoned with as we managed to with the Soviets during the Cold War.  Rosenberg pointed out that despite being atheists, communists are in no hurry to die, while radicals like Ahmadinejad are quite happy to die, thinking they’ll be rewarded with 72 virgins and such.  Nuclear weapons and this mindset are a deadly combination.

Rosenberg called on the gathering to pray–to pray for our safety in America, and to pray for the safety of Israel, who stands next door to this threat.
