“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen!” – Samuel Adams

Dr. Adams’ Hate Mail

Dr. Mike Adams

Dr. Mike Adams

If you don’t read Dr. Mike Adams’ column, you’re missing out!

I thought I’d share a few excerpts from the latest installment of one of my favorite columnists. Dr. Adams is a professor of criminal justice at UNC-Wilmington in North Carolina. As a conservative and a Christian at the typical bastion of liberalism known as an American college, you can imagine the kind of ignorance that confronts Adams on a daily basis.

One of those sources of ignorance (and laughter) is the hate mail Adams continually receives from his admirers. Today’s column features some of that:

Dr. Adams: It does not appear, from all of your ranting about the transgendered community, that you have any sense of what it is like to wake up in the morning feeling like a woman. –Veronica

Dear Veronica: I think we’ve established some common ground on this one. My lack of understanding of the transgendered community is, in fact, related to the fact that I simply do not know what it is like to wake up feeling like a woman. You’ve been most helpful. –Thanks, Mike Adams

You really stooped to [sic] low with this column. You should never use the word “fat”. –Anonymous.

Dear Anonymous: You just did. –Mike Adams

Dr. Adams, your criticism of gays is not just annoying. It is ill-manners [sic], and rude. You [sic] parents raised you poorly. –Tim

Hi Tim! It really has nothing to do with upbringing. I was born with the anti-gay gene. There’s nothing I can do about it. –Mike Adams

Dr. Adams, it is in poor taste to jugde [sic] cultures other than you [sic] own. References to Muslim man [sic] as “swarthy” and remarks about Muslim headwear are simply untoward. –Sue

Hi Sue. I come from a culture where people think that judging other cultures is good. Please stop judging our culture. –Mike

p.s. I also come from a culture with a healthy respect for the spell-checker. Please, come visit us some time.

Ah, a man after my own heart!

  1. Speaking of so-called transgendered people: With all respect to those who deal with such a difficult issue, has anyone ever noticed how radically *unlike* an actual woman the average “transgendered” gay man behaves? It's like they're trying way too hard. (And this is not just stereotyping.)

Not to mention that gay men use a lot of pornography that the average woman wouldn't come within a mile of (although I admit I don't know how many such porn users actually claim to be “transgendered”).

    Just observing.

  2. …the point of the above being: There are not “women in men's bodies” (or vice versa, for that matter). There are only men (and women) with messed-up sexuality.

  3. Just like a good Neo-Christian-sarcastic, condesecnding ang judgemental. I am sure Jesus would be proud of him.

  4. All those American colleges that are so dangerous and “bastions of liberalism” keep pouring out accountants, doctors, engineers, businessmen, stay home moms or dads, lawyers, teachers, entrepeneurs, journalists, scientists, pastors etc. These schools are just so evil. Should we shut them down or simply make them ascribe to how we want them to think.

  5. So… being sarcastic, condescending & judgmental is OK for you but not for others?

Well, since we're all being a bit snide anyway, here are some bumper stickers I'd like to see:

    DIVERSITY WORTH CELEBRATING
    DOESN'T INCLUDE UNHEALTHY BEHAVIOR

“HATE” IS NOT A FAMILY VALUE
AND RECOGNIZING WRONG IS NOT “HATE”

    3-YEAR-OLDS CAN'T DRIVE
    GIRLS CAN'T BE BOY SCOUTS
    SAME-SEX COUPLES CAN'T BE “MARRIED”
SOME THINGS HAVE TO BE QUALIFIED FOR!

  6. DCM

I reserve the right to use sarcasm, condescension et al since I am a pagan. I simply thought a professed Christian like Adams would be above that and follow the teachings of Jesus, but guess not.As far as the bumper stickers are concerned, I prefer not to dwell on things like hate–just the positive stuff.

  7. “Just the positive stuff” is all you get from the Gospels? You've missed out on a LOT. Or you've been listening to too many God-hating secularists.

Christ was gentle when gentleness was needed…and a straight-shooter when that was called for.

For some “positive stuff” from Christ, you might check Matthew chapter 12, or even chapter 23. Christ didn't pull any punches when it came to dealing with evil.

For that matter, neither did his followers. You might check Acts chapter 7 and all the “positive stuff” Stephen conveyed to the Sanhedrin.

Or all the “positive stuff” Paul conveyed in his letter to the Romans, or his first letter to the Corinthians, or his letter to the Galatians, or his letter to the Ephesians.

Or the “positive stuff” Jude relayed.

And don't forget all the “positive stuff” John told us in his Revelation.

A common misperception among many pagans and secularists have of Jesus is that he (and his Father) were just pushovers, simple smiling idiots who mutter mushy platitudes while blind to evil, cosmic Santa Clauses who give things but never expect any obedience or particular loyalty from their human creations.

I cannot begin to tell you how eternally and profoundly wrong that misperception is.
