Voice of Freedom is Heard at Dakotafest

It would have been great to be at Dakotafest over in Mitchell, South Dakota today. Reports are that it was pretty lively, with much of the same unvarnished, non-Koolaid-drinking candor (from the crowd, at least) we’ve seen in public meetings across the country in the last month.
Senator John Thune (R-SD) and Rep. Stephanie Herseth Sandlin (D-SD) were on hand to talk about health care, the cap and trade global warming tax and more. Senator Johnson opted not to appear.
Steve Sibson at Sibby Online attended and says
…it was one strange morning…there was protestors there calling Obama a Nazi.
These would be the Democrat Lydon LaRouche fruitcakes who are perhaps among the most transparent regarding the Marxist leanings of the American Left. They oppose Obama’s socialist health care plan not because it is unconstitutional and not because socialized health care is a flop everywhere it’s tried…but because the current proposal isn’t Marxist enough for them.
The Argus Leader has some interesting bits:
Thune said: “I don’t want a European or Canadian system, and I don’t think most Americans do.”
Time also was spent discussing the climate change and energy bill that already has been passed by the House of Representatives, which Thune is adamantly against. “I will work with every fiber of my being to defeat the bill that was passed by the House,” Thune said.
Thune could barely finish his comment before the crowd clapped and whistled in support.
And apparently there were no takers at the table offering Democrat Koolaid:
“Don’t be scared that the Democrats are in charge,” Herseth started to say but was drowned out by laughter and booing from the crowd.
McCain and many of the congressional Republicans didn’t offer much in the way of inspiration or good ideas, but Americans are starting to see the high price of staying home in an election. When it comes to Democrats being in charge, be afraid…be very afraid.
Never in my lifetime have I seen anything even close to the current state of fired-up, freedom-loving defense of Americanism, the Constitution and common sense. Despite the dangers and the challenges…what an exciting time to be an American!
