Recess Rally in Rapid City…And Across the Nation

Fox News reports there will be health care rallies all across the great United States today!

If Democratic lawmakers thought all the furor over President Obama’s health care plan expressed this month at town hall meetings was dying down, they might be in for a surprise Saturday.

That’s when citizens are planning anti-”Obamacare” rallies across the country Saturday in all 435 congressional districts.

And their message is clear: We will not stand for socialized, government-controlled health care.

The same groups who made the “tax tea parties” possible in April are behind this weekend’s movement. American Liberty Alliance, FreedomWorks and Americans for Prosperity are working with The Sam Adams Alliance, among others, to stage the rallies.

Citizens for Liberty has planned a health care forum in Rapid City today, but I don’t think anyone with the group even knew this was being organized nationwide today.

One thing in the Fox News piece stood out to me: liberals are used to thinking momentary flashes of anger from the American people are short-lived…but they are woefully mistaken. That was too often true in the past, but not anymore.

In the past 9 months or so, the American people have seen their great and beloved nation sliding over a precipice, and they are alarmed like never before.  Since the Tax Day Tea Parties and even before, the American people have been mobilizing to defend their nation from this move toward socialism that would destroy it.

Patriotic Americans continued the fervor on Independence Day with Tea Parties in hundreds of towns across America, speaking out against things like socialized health care, the cap and trade global warming tax and more.

Now, with a government takeover of the health care industry looming, apparently many people across the country have had the same idea to rally on the same day–with or without coordination. I wonder how many health care rallies there might be today that–like the one in Rapid City–are off the radar of the national Recess Rally organization and vice versa.

The one in Rapid City today will be at the Veteran’s Memorial in Memorial Park (near the intersection of Omaha St. and Mt. Rushmore Rd.) at 1:00 pm.  There will be some singers, speakers, and plenty of randomly-selected questions from the audience.  All West River South Dakota legislators have been invited to the rally, as have Senator John Thune, Senator Tim Johnson and Rep. Stephanie Herseth Sandlin.

Prior to the Rally, there will be opportunity to wave signs along Omaha Street from about 12:00 pm to shortly before the program at 1:00 pm.

Prior to that, Citizens for Liberty will have a float in the Central States Fair parade in Rapid City.  In addition to a patriotic float, group members will be handing out invitations to the health care rally as the float progresses.

Thousands of Rapid City residents have already received invitations in the mail this week, and many more will receive printed invitations today.  Whether you get one or not, be sure to come out. Don’t miss this chance to be a part of history, of joining your voice with others in defense of what makes America the greatest country on earth!
