Herseth Sandlin Chamber Luncheon: Public Was Never to be Invited

I received an update this morning regarding the recession of the public invitation to the Rep. Stephanie Herseth Sandlin luncheon sponsored by the Rapid City Area Chamber of Commerce’s Young Professionals Group Political Awareness Subcommittee.

My sources tell me the story now is that Rep. Herseth Sandlin had contacted the Chamber of Commerce Young Professionals Group Political Awareness Subcommittee wanting to speak to them. They normally make such opportunities open to the public, so they apparently assumed this occasion would be no different. What was misunderstood, however, is that Herseth Sandlin seems to have always wanted this event to be ONLY for the Young Professionals Group.

Therefore, yesterday the Chamber of Commerce rescinded the invitation for the public to attend this luncheon, removing the only scheduled public appearance for Rep. Herseth Sandlin in the West River South Dakota area.

As an interesting side note, The South Dakota War College reported this morning that someone received a notice in their Microsoft Outlook program that the Chamber had attempted to recall/delete the invitation email (this is a feature available under certain circumstances in Outlook).

I think that the cat is already out of the bag on that one, the horse has left the barn…well, you get the idea.

Herseth Sandlin will be attending DakotaFest in Mitchell, South Dakota, but since this is 300 miles away from Rapid City, many South Dakotans will not be able to attend.

Hopefully Rep. Herseth Sandlin will take Citizens for Liberty up on their invitation to the Town Hall and Recess Rally in Rapid City on August 22. West River South Dakotans might not get another chance this August recess to visit with their elected representative, otherwise.
