Govt Restaurant Motto: Have it OUR Way…Period

2009-08-03 20.53.40Another great video from NotSoSure.org.

In the previous video, we saw the folly of jumping over the edge and relying on something that was inherently unreliable.

This video provides another enlightening illustration of how socialized health care works, and does so in the setting of a restaurant.

Government bureaucrats come in and take over running the place from the cooks and waiters.

We get “one size fits all” food, with all the goodies replaced by the same generic mystery meat.

Want something nice that really fits your taste from the big menu?   Oh, gee, the “big menu” now only has what they’re offering you.  Take it or leave it.

In fact,  some customers like the elderly will be invited to “leave it” entirely; they will be told that they need to get out of the long line waiting to be fed.  After all, they’ll probably die soon anyway, and just take perfectly serviceable food out of the mouths of other people in line.

And speaking of waiting, get used to it.  Like most anything the federal government does, you’ll be doing a lot of waiting.  Remember: delayed care is denied care, especially if you critically need treatment.

The socialist still doesn’t get it.  He says that if you don’t like things at this restaurant, just go to another restaurant.  The freedom guy throws a cold bucket of reality in his face, however: all the restaurants are just like this one now.

Some of us have lived under socialized health care schemes in other countries. I have; I spent three years living under the British National Health Service.

It blows great big steamy chunks, folks.

And that “all restaurants are like this” part, it’s so true.  I used to get so frustrated in England, and used to wryly joke with my best friend about the pathetic service provided in so many areas.  In America, most mottoes are a lot like Burger King’s to some extent or another: “Your way, right away.”  My buddy and I knew what the socialist motto was after plenty of experience with it: “Where else are you going to go?  Heh, heh.”

Don’t just take it from me, an American who lived under socialism for three years.  Take it from British MEP Daniel Hannan who said a few months ago of the British health care system and American plans to socialize:

The worse thing is for you as the recipient of health care because you’ve got no control over what you get. There’s no contractual relationship between you and the suppliers, so, you know, if they treat you today or next week or six weeks from now, where it’s too late because your condition has already deteriorated… there’s nothing you can do about it. You are expected to queue up with a smile and be grateful for what you have.

If you — listen, if you get nothing else from what I’m saying this evening, please do not make that mistake. If there are any congressman watching this who think, yes, it might be a bit fair, yes, it’d be a bit sort of cozy, you know, I promise you, it is worse for doctors. It’s worse for patients. It’s worse for taxpayers.

Tell your senators and congressmen/women while they’re visiting your state over the August recess: stop this insanity now, turn in the opposite direction, and get government completely out of health care.
