More Big Govt Mandates Found in Cap and Trade Bill

It stands to reason that when politicians ram through a 1,400-page bill that almost none of them have read, we’re going to be finding out about all the stupid, egregious provisions stuffed into it for a long time.

Since the U.S. House passed the bill, we’ve found out about indecipherable passages,  shower nazis, refinery closures,  gas price increases, EPA coverups and more.

Now, thanks to FreedomProject and the Columbus Dispatch, we know about even more micromanaging, freedom-robbing, prosperity-sucking trash in the bill:

  • Taxpayer cash for electric companies to plant trees
  • Mandates for energy-efficient table lamps
  • Federal mandates on state and local governments to upgrade building codes
  • Regulations on streetlights
  • Mandates for global warming labels on appliances
  • Taxpayer cash for bonuses to retailers who sell energy-efficient appliances

As Freedom Project points out, there are better solutions and robbing the taxpayers and trying to invade very detail of our lives.  One good idea is building more nuclear reactors.

I lived in England for three years, and despite the fact that they are years ahead of us diving into the pit of socialism, they have nuclear reactors all over the tiny island of Great Britain. You can’t swing a dead cat without hitting a nuclear reactor over there.  There is no reason we couldn’t greatly increase our electrical capacity with nuclear power and even eventually replace some of the older coal power plants.

But liberals won’t have any of that, either.

One really has to wonder whether it isn’t even environmental extremism liberals are interested in, but the total emasculation and powerlessness of the United States.

With horrible legislation like the cap and trade global warming tax passed by the House, you really do have to wonder…
