Interactive Guide to Democrat Sex Scandals

Liberals have been having a good time with the revelation of South Carolina Governor Mark Sanford’s extra-marital affair.

To be sure, it was wrong.  He broke his vows to his wife and undermined the sanctity of marriage.  He also broke the trust of the public that elected him to serve them and maintain a high standard of moral behavior; after all, can someone who can’t be trusted to safeguard his most precious personal loyalty, be trusted to safeguard the property and welfare of the public?

What’s more, Sanford has continued to talk about his affair and say some of the most stupid things you could imagine. It would seem the time has arrived that he should resign, for the good of his party if not the people.

But there are a couple of other interesting facets of this story beyond Sanford’s unfaithfulness and stupidity.

One is how liberals react to immoral behavior by liberals differently than conservatives react to immoral behavior by conservatives.

While conservatives recognize that while moral standards should be upheld and adhered to, they also understand that we are all fallen human beings with a nature inclined toward immoral behavior.  The failure of come individuals to live up to the standard–even by those who affirm the standard–in no way undermines or delegitimizes the truth or appropriateness of the standard.

Liberals, however, seem to be so paranoid about being labeled “hypocrites,” they just throw out the standard altogether.  Better to embrace the lowest common denominator of behavior than to be called a hypocrite.  Of course, more to the core of why liberals take this approach is really that they want the lowest common denominator to be the standard.

Their repulsion at being labeled a hypocrite is second only to being judged, to be be identified as someone not being right.  It isn’t that they want to do the right thing and are scared of not living up to it, it is that they want complete moral autonomy and freedom to do whatever behavior enters their hearts and minds without facing the appropriate moral condemnation for inappropriate behavior.

Accordingly, they expect little from their leaders, so long as those leaders remain true to the ideological goals of liberalism.

So it is that, according to the liberal mindset of the “mainstreatm” media and other Leftists, when a liberal commits an immoral act, it’s no big deal. No need to talk about that. Definitely no need to mention the party affiliation of the offender.

But when a champion of what’s right fails to live up to the standard…crucify him!  Off with his head!  See, that morality conservatives have been pushing is just a bunch of hogwash anyway because one of their own didn’t live up to it.

Accordingly, when a liberal gets involved in a sex scandal, the “mainstream” media makes sure we hear as little as possible about it (and mention of party affiliation is avoided at all costs), while stoking the fires of any conservative sex scandals for all they’re worth.

So this guide to recent Democrat sex scandals (recent as defined as between 2007-2009) has been developed to help you get a better grasp of where and how the monkey business is truly going on. (Click to enlarge)
