Government Health Care: Saying Goodbye to Your Property…and Your Freedom

No matter how you look at it, from what ever angle you try, government health care will nuke your freedom…in more ways than one.

For one thing, the government (ostensibly in existence to serve the people, not rob them) will take more of your money away and give it to other people.  It will waste that money on ineffective, inept, low-quality health care that–like it does every place it’s tried–will result in waiting lists and rationing.

For another, your options for where and how you seek medical care will be dictated and controlled by the central government.  Oh you’ll have freedom to choose your doctor, they say….so long as they approve of the choice.  And if the central planning committee doesn’t approve of a particular treatment (maybe it’s too “new” for the bureaucracy to have caught up with it, or maybe you’re too old to be worth wasting money on.

Newsmax tells us of one of the first ways freedom will walk out the door, so get ready to wave goodbye now, if this abomination passes:

Americans who refuse to buy affordable medical coverage could be hit with fines of more than $1,000 under a health care overhaul bill unveiled Thursday by key Senate Democrats looking to fulfill President Barack Obama’s top domestic priority.

The Congressional Budget Office estimated the fines will raise around $36 billion over 10 years. Senate aides said the penalties would be modeled on the approach taken by Massachusetts, which now imposes a fine of about $1,000 a year on individuals who refuse to get coverage. Under the federal legislation, families would pay higher penalties than individuals.

In a revamped health care system envisioned by lawmakers, people would be required to carry health insurance just like motorists must get auto coverage now. The government would provide subsidies for the poor and many middle-class families, but those who still refuse to sign up would face penalties.

It doesn’t matter if you have the means to pay for your health care on your own as some people do.

It doesn’t matter if you’re young, healthy and have little need of health care.

In fact, it doesn’t matter what you think or want to do at all.  In the eyes of the elitists in Washington, you are just a cog in the machine.  You exist to give them something to do.  You have no freedom that the benevolent lords in D.C. do not in their great benevolence believe you should have (though I seem to recall something in American history which says our liberties are NOT the playthings of government).

We should be going exactly the opposite way to improve our ailing health care system.  We should be getting government out of every sector of the health care industry.  People and private entities should be doing more for themselves, not relying on an incompetent bureaucracy inside the Beltway to take care of them.  We should be getting people more–not less–involved in their own health care decisions.

I know some people enjoy having someone else do the thinking for them, but these are the only ways which will bring costs down and strengthen our system.

Instead, the Marxists in Washington are like people who, when they see a building on fire, start a bucket brigade…using gasoline from the nearest service station.

Find a Tea Party today and send the oligarchs in Washington a message.  Tell them you won’t stand for your Constitution being ignored and trashed.  Tell them you won’t wave goodbye to your freedoms as they are shown the door.  Tell Washington you can think for yourself and take care of yourself like your American forefathers.

The time is late for saving our great country and our freedom.  But it is not too late.  YOU can make a difference. Will you?
