Cap and Trade Bill Regulates Home Sales and Filled with Indecipherable Passages

Even before the U.S. House passed the massive assault on American freedom and prosperity known as the cap and trade global warming tax, every freedom-loving and intellectually balanced America knew it was an insane proposition that was outright hostile to the American people.

But as we get time to digest the 1,200-page monstrosity that no one read before voting on, we learn it was even more insane and egregious than we ever dreamed. (Even without the info the EPA covered up which points to natural causes of global warming)

For instance,  a couple of days ago I examined the “shower nazis” pushed by this tyrannical bill.

Today CNS News reports  (and it seems the page total is up to 1,400 from the 1,200 I knew about) says these environmental extremists may force you to spend thousands of dollars to “retrofit” your home to greenie standards before you can sell it:

The 1,400-page cap-and-trade legislation pushed through by House Democrats contains a new federal policy that residential, commercial, and government buildings be retrofitted to increase energy efficiency, leaving it up to the states to figure out exactly how to do that.

This means that homeowners, for example, could be required to retrofit their homes to meet federal “green” guidelines in order to sell their homes, if the cap-and-trade bill becomes law.

The bill, which now goes to the Senate, directs the administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to develop and implement a national policy for residential and commercial buildings. The purpose of such a strategy – known as the Retrofit for Energy and Environmental Performance (REEP) – would be to “facilitate” the retrofitting of existing buildings nationwide.

Freedom isn’t just walking out the door of America, folks; it’s been sent flying out with a boot on the behind.

These socialists want the free American people to bow and scrape before a bunch of government bureaucrats to make a visit from the Grim REEPer slightly less painful.

CNS News also reports that Rep. Henry Waxman’s (D-CA) last-minute 310-page amendment to the bill contains a bunch of indecipherable gobbledygook about a a ”central procurement state.”

The CNS News article reports the bill says a “central procurement state” is

“a State that, as of Jan. 1, 2009, had adopted and implemented a legally enforceable mandate that, in lieu of requiring utilities to submit credits or certificates issued based on generation of electricity from (or to purchase or generate electricity from) resources defined by the State as renewable, requires retail electric suppliers to collect payments from electricity ratepayers within the State that are used for central procurement, by a State agency or a public benefit corporation established pursuant to State law, of credits or certificates issued based on generation of electricity from resources defined by the State as renewable.”

Do what?

Perhaps this was meant to be incoherent; that allows greater flexibility for the socialists in Washington to take away more of your freedom, rights and property.

No wonder the latest Rasmussen poll finds  56% of Americans say they are not willing to pay more in taxes and utility costs to fight the non-existent “problem” of anthropogenic global warming.  I suspect that as more people find out what a stinker this bill is, what a contemptuous attack on the American way of life it is, that percentage will rise drastically.  And as more people continue to find out what a joke the theory of man-made global warming is…

My fellow Americans, if you value your freedom, if you value your heritage, if you value your prosperity, you need to contact your senator right away (perhaps repeatedly) and urge them strongly but respectfully to vote down this contemptuous assault on the American way of life.

You might want to also let them know you’ll be watching how they vote, and that in the next election you’ll not only be casting your vote as appropriate, but that you’ll be actively working–with your time and money–to oust anyone who has such little regard for their constituents and for our Constitutional freedoms.
