The Climate Depot brings us news that global temperatures have dropped .74 degrees F since Al Gore released his propaganda tome “An Inconvenient Truth.”
(Wasn’t an increase of less than that supposed to plunge coastal cities beneath the ocean and spell planetary doom?)
Climate Depot cites information from several sources including Watts Up With That? and a graph showing temperatures off for quite a long time now. And from Gore Lied we see that temperatures have dropped–along with Gore’s credibility–since he released his last work of propaganda in print.
Icecap also features a graph illustrating the drop in temperatures even as CO2 levels rise. Didn’t anyone tell them this isn’t supposed to happen? According to the myth, CO2 levels are supposed to drive temperature. Something must be wrong with the chart software!
It looks like the Ohio Senate was pretty wise in voting to tell the socialists in Washington kiss off with their asinine economy-destroying cap and trade global warming tax.
From the Star Beacon:
The Ohio Senate resolution was sponsored by Chris Widener, R-Springfield, who had 19 co-sponsors. The resolution states that Ohio receives more than 85 percent of its electricity from coal.
“Thus, the cap-and-trade program will result in massive increases for all consumers because the cost to produce electricity from coal will be markedly higher,” the resolution states.
According to the U.S. Congressional Budget Office (CBO), the price increase resulting from a 15 percent cut in greenhouse gas emissions would cost the average household between 1.7 and 3.3 percent of its after-tax income, annually. Households in the bottom fifth of the income scale would lose the largest share of income as a result of the program. CBO has acknowledged these increases in energy costs will act as a regressive tax and affect every household in the nation, according to the Ohio Senate resolution.
Cap and trade will result in a massive windfall of billions of dollars for the federal government through the sale of emission credits. Critics say the program won’t result in an overall global decrease in emissions because many U.S. industries will relocate to countries with less stringent standards, taking away American jobs in the process.
Based upon these concerns, the Ohio Senate is urging Congress to refuse to enact cap-and-trade legislation. The resolution passed Tuesday, 21-11.
Nationally about 60% of America’s electricity comes from coal, so we’re all in the socialist cross hairs on this massive assault on the American people.
The U.S. House refused to listen to sanity or the American people and approved the cap and trade global warming tax a couple of weeks ago. It total contempt for American prosperity and the welfare of the American people, they voted for this massive tax to increase our electric bills by 40% or more, to raise the cost of gasoline 77 cents a gallon–all of which will ripple across the economy raising prices of all goods and services. They voted to harm our already-stressed refining capacity, to use taxpayer dollars to fund shower nazis, and to send more government bureaucracy into our homes requiring us to bow and curtsy to government before we can even sell our own homes.
And according to the Washington Examiner, yet another egregious provision buried in this 1,200+ page bill allows for a pretty good cash haul if your job is wiped out by this abomination…and hundreds of thousands of jobs are expected to be torpedoed by this thing:
“Title IV, Subtitle B, Part 2, Section 426, of the American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009 states: ‘An eligible worker (specifically, workers who lose their jobs as a result of this measure) may receive a climate change adjustment allowance under this subsection for a period of not longer than 156 weeks…80 percent of the monthly premium of any health insurance coverage…up to a maximum payment of $1,500 in relocation allowance…and job search expenses not exceed[ing] $1,500.’”
These socialists in Washington fire a nuke at our economy, destroy thousands of jobs…and leave the American taxpayer (who they’re already also gouging under this plan) to pick up the tab to carry people who are out of a job because of Washington’s incompetence.
No wonder Ohio and other states are with startling speed moving to tell this overbearing federal government to back off and remember its Constitutional boundaries.
All of the most powerful evidence–from temperature change going back thousands of years, to solar activity, to global warming on other planets, to unreliable data–points toward natural and cyclic causes for temperature fluctuations. Socialists in Washington want to scuttle the American economy based on junk science…or simply a convenient excuse to exercise more control over their American subjects.
The American people must send that message loud and clear over and over again until the socialist tyrants in Washington either learn to behave, or we remove them from office in 2010 and 2012.
