Where Can Americans Go for Treatment Under Govt Health Care?
If you advocate we in the United States completely abandon the free market model that has worked for over 200 years in favor of a socialist health care system, you need to hear about Shona Holmes experience with the government health care system in Canada.
Holmes (see video below) was diagnosed with brain cancer, with her vision deteriorating rapidly, but was placed on the treatment waiting lists common to health care in socialist countries. While the average wait time for many procedures can run 18 months or more, Holmes actually made out pretty good by only having to wait 6 months for surgery for her brain tumor.
Rather than wait like a good little subject, she came to the States and got the health care she needed within three weeks. You know, the United States health care system liberals claim is so broken it must be replaced with a government system…you know, kinda like the one in Canada.
The second video below is about Canadian women being referred by their doctors to the United States for treatment with high risk pregnancies. Apparently they don’t have the resources to deal with them, and by October 2007 (the time of this video report) 40 women had been airlifted from Canada to the States for care.
I lived in England for three years and experienced the socialist bliss of the National Health Service first hand. I recall, after getting food poisoning, sitting in an empty emergency room for several hours puking into a garbage can while I waited to see a doctor. I saw my British girlfriend receive similar “treatment” when she experienced terrible stomach cramps, and every British friend I talked to about health care had similar stories to tell me.
If we in the United States are stupid enough to adopt this pathetic government system, where will we go when we’re in medical trouble? Canada? Sorry, they already have too many of their own problems? The Third World country of Mexico? Please.
Socialism is a disgusting failure everywhere in the world it’s tried (including flirtations with it here in the States).
Wasn’t it Albert Einstein who said that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again while expecting different results?
