Was Carrie Prejean Fired for Contract Violations or Bigotry?

Carrie Prejean

The latest round in the ongoing saga concerning Miss California Carrie Prejean finds the beauty queen fired, ostensibly for “contractual violations.”

Since yesterday some emails and text messaged between Prejean and pageant officials have been released, and it appears that in at least one of them, pageant officials seem to have had some sort of problem with her making an appearance at a Special Olympics event.

Based on the harsh treatment she has received since simply stating the obvious–that marriage is between a man and a woman–it is entirely believable that pageant officials had for weeks been looking for the slightest pretense under which to fire her. Officials had tried to get rid of her several weeks ago, but pageant owner Donald Trump stood up for her.

All this was started because homosexual activist Perez Hilton, who was a judge at the Miss USA pageant, felt the need to exact a little PC tribute and asked Prejean the politicized question of whether the concept of homosexual “marriage” should be advanced across the country.

She said, in a very mild manner, ”In my family, I … believe marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anybody out there, but that’s how I was raised.”

The “Apostles of Tolerance” have displayed the height of bigotry in their open war against this young woman, so casting her into outer darkness for thin or manufactured excuses would be completely in keeping with the behavior we’ve seen. She didn’t bow and render tribute at the altar of political correctness, so the edict of the Gods of PC was that she be banished from the public realm.

This whole incident and the obnoxious, hostile behavior from many homosexual activist and the “objective journalists” in the “mainstream” media is intended by them to send a message to others who might dare to refuse the proper homage to the homosexual agenda: we will bury you!

I think, however, like the behavior of homosexual activists before and after the passage of Proposition 8 in California, this is serving to illustrate–in a way defenders of marriage and sexual ethics never could–the extreme and belligerent nature of the homosexual agenda. It has once again served to demonstrate that the homosexual agenda is NOT about tolerance, but about forcing the complete and total acceptance of homosexual behavior from society. Nothing short of that will be tolerated by the apostles of tolerance.

This is an interview last night with Prejean by Sean Hannity.  In it, Prejean gets to share some things the “mainstream” media will probably work hard to make sure you otherwise wouldn’t know about.

Carrie Prejean was fired for giving a polite and honest answer to a question that requested her opinion. She did not express ill will toward anybody and didn't even comment on how she that the matter of gay marriage should be handled. She just gave her private opinion on what marriage meant to her personally. She didn't try to convince anyone of anything or suggest what other people should think or do.

She was immediately attacked with a vile vengeance by a bigoted judge, pageant officials, gay activist and every anti-christian in the country. A regular biblical stoning.

Additionally, your comment: "Since yesterday some emails and text messaged between Prejean and pageant officials have been released, and it appears that in at least one of them, pageant officials seem to have had some sort of problem with her making an appearance at a Special Olympics event."

Can you please clarify and provide a source. Were the pageant officials' problem with Ms. Prejean NOT making a scheduled appearance at a Special Olympics event? Or that she attended the even in violation of her contract?

    Thanks for clarifying this point.
  • If you're that interested, in this day and age of easy access to information, now that you know it's available, I'm sure you can find the answers to your questions with little effort.
  • Jon H
Is this the source you refer to? "Carrie Prejean has announced she will not be appearing at the Special Olympics summer games. The Miss Californian USA pageant officials are sending the newly crowned Tami Ferrell in her place."

This clearly shows it was Ms. Prejean's decision not to attend; neither she nor her attorney Charles LiMandri even imply the pageant officials suggested she not attend.

This would seem to put your comment "pageant officials seem to have had some sort of problem with her making an appearance at a Special Olympics event" to question in terms of its accuracy.
  • No, the source to which I'm referring indicated that she definitely was and wanted to attend the Special Olympics event, and the pageant officials seemed to have some sort of issue with that.
  • Jon H
Then perhaps you can supply your source. I went through two pages of google links and could not find anything close to your claim other than blog opinions from forums like this. I did see many sources which echo the quote I relayed at 7:07 pm Saturday, which was from:

As your column's website banner says "exposing the pernicious lie," I'm sure you are as eager as I to uphold truth and not third-hand speculation when espousing facts, and thus provide the source for your claim as well. Thanks.
  • No thank, Jon. I could tell right away that you simply want to waste my time. And I can also tell that you're savvy enough to find the information if you want to.

You are also deliberately misrepresenting the reason why Prejean isn't going--it's because she was replaced and is no longer Miss California. "I fully intended to go and volunteer once again in my private capacity. However, when I learned that Keith Lewis had called the event asking that a new Miss California USA attend in my place, I reluctantly decided for the good of the Olympians I should not be there at this time.

I am perfectly willing to help educate and inform those who who don't understand something or don't have all the facts, but I have no time for those who try to intentionally deceive others. As you said, Dakota Voice is about "exposing the pernicious lie," not about indulging those who perpetuate it.

The new Miss CA, Tami Ferrell, has also stated she does not support same-sex marriage. So why fire Miss Prejean because she's intolerant and replace her with someone with exactly the same voiced opinion? Kind of blows a hole in the entire "Prejean was fired because she doesn't support gay marriage" theory.
  • Maybe...maybe not. Pageant officials may simply figure that without the controversy manufactured by Perez Hilton, Ferrell will be less obvious about it.
