The majority of Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives have now passed one of the most–if not THE most–contemptuous bills in American history.
I am referring, of course, to the cap and trade global warming tax bill, HR 2454, known as the “American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009.”
According to estimates, if this assault on the American way of life is also passed by the Senate, this bill will raise our electric bills by 40% or more, threaten construction of much-needed power plants, destroy thousands of jobs, and devastate our economy–all to lower temperatures by 9/100th of one degree over the next 40 years.
In passing this bill, most Democrats (and a handful of confused Republicans who don’t realize what party they’re in) in congress have chosen to treat the American people with far more contempt than they show toward foreign despots and dictators around the world; belligerent threats to our country get a coddling pass, while the American people are taken to the cleaners.
The worst part of this whole insult to the American people: it purports to “fix” a problem that doesn’t even exist.
Well, voters, you know what you have to do in 2010.
From Fox News:
The vote was 219-212, capping months of negotiations and days of intense bargaining among Democrats. Republicans were overwhelmingly against the measure, arguing it would destroy jobs in the midst of a recession while burdening consumers with a new tax in the form of higher energy costs.
The legislation would require the U.S. to reduce carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gas emissions by 17 percent from 2005 levels by 2020 and by about 80 percent by mid-century. That was slightly more aggressive than Obama originally wanted, 14 percent by 2020 and the same 80 percent by mid-century.
U.S. carbon dioxide emissions from the burning of fossil fuels are rising at about 1 percent a year and are predicted to continue increasing without mandatory limits.
Under the bill, the government would limit heat-trapping pollution from factories, refineries and power plants and issue allowances for polluters. Most of the allowances would be given away, but about 15 percent would be auctioned by bid and the proceeds used to defray higher energy costs for lower-income individuals and families.
To her credit, South Dakota’s Rep. Stephanie Herseth Sandlin voted “NO” to this massive tax bill. She was not among the 219 “YES” votes, so she deserves our thanks for not trying to stick it to us.
But these 219 congressmen who are hostile toward the American people, the American economy, and the American way of life, need to be shown the error of their ways when they face re-election:

If these “Yes” voters are in your district, you know what you have to do. It’s time to get busy right now and mount a campaign to remove them from office next year. But you can’t wait until next year to get started. Candidates need to be recruited right now, with publicity and fund raising efforts to begin as soon as possible.
The American people can (obviously) no longer afford to be passive and allow “representatives” who despise them and their interests to keep going back to Washington.
Our government is “of the people, by the people, and for the people.” These ultra-liberals have tried to make the last part of that disappear, but “we the people” must provide them a lesson that it is still our government, and it’s purpose is still to serve our best interests.
