Sotomayor a “terror on the bench”

“Lawyers who have argued cases before Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor call her “nasty,” “angry” and a “terror on the bench,” according to the current Almanac of the Federal Judiciary – a kind of Zagat’s guide to federal judges.

Of the 21 judges evaluated, the same lawyers gave 18 positive to glowing reviews and two judges received mixed reviews. Judge Sotomayor was the only one to receive decidedly negative comments.”

I don’t know if anything will make a difference given a solid Democrat Senate, but first Sotomayor’s nomination will have to get out of the Judiciary Committee, which requires at least one affirmative vote by a member from the minority party. With Arlen Specter having retreated to the other side of the aisle, that leaves Lindsey Graham as the most “moderate” Republican on the committee and the one most likely to vote to move the nomination to the Senate floor.
