This proposed global warming tax-and-spend scam would be one of the biggest financial assaults ever perpetrated against a free people.

Forgetting for a moment that the whole anthropogenic global warming myth is the biggest fraud ever sold to a free people, the plans the Obama Administration has to lighten the pockets of the American people is truly staggering.

President Obama started out claiming the cap-and-trade tax was going to cost $646 billion, and that they’d stick the evil companies–primarily the power industry–with the cost.  Never mind that those costs will be passed on to the consumer in the form of an electric bill which is more than 40% higher; a little shallow class envy greases the wheels of socialism, right?

Suspicions were quickly raised that $646 was a pretty low estimate, and now the White House has essentially confirmed that, according to the Washington Times:

President Obama’s climate plan could cost industry close to $2 trillion, nearly three times the White House’s initial estimate of the so-called “cap-and-trade” legislation, according to Senate staffers who were briefed by the White House…

At the meeting, Jason Furman, a top Obama staffer, estimated that the president’s cap-and-trade program could cost up to three times as much as the administration’s early estimate of $646 billion over eight years. A study of an earlier cap-and-trade bill co-sponsored by Mr. Obama when he was a senator estimated the cost could top $366 billion a year by 2015.

A White House official did not confirm the large estimate, saying only that Obama aides previously had noted that the $646 billion estimate was “conservative.”

Robbing the American people to the tune of $2 trillion dollars, all for an environmentalist load of malarkey that doesn’t even pass the smell test of believability?  You have an other $4,500 a year lying around in the closet not doing anything useful, right?

And don’t forget about the tremendous job-destroying damage this hooey will do to our economy, as it’s already doing in Spain.

There was another interesting tidbit in the Washington Times article, too.   Liberals have been claiming–now that they’ve essentially admitted the “Oh, we’re going to stick it to the evil companies” routine was a load of bull–that they’ll rebate the money they take out of your pocket with a 40% higher electric bill.  Now, you can believe that you’ll actually get a rebate from our inefficient, sticky-fingered federal government if you want, and you can even go on believing in the Easter Bunny, too.  But I wouldn’t count on it.

Yet already we’re starting to see qualifiers put on this promise of a rebate:

“Any revenues in excess of the estimate would be rebated to vulnerable consumers, communities and businesses,” the official said.

“In excess of the estimate,” huh? Which estimate?  The estimate of $646 billion?  The estimate that it’ll be three times the $646 estimate?

And not just any American will get a rebate.  Only government-approved Americans will maybe get some of their money back after it has filtered through the many hands of untold bureaucrats. In other words, if the almighty government-god is in a benevolent mood, and if you aren’t making more money than the government-god deems virtuous, you might get a few scraps from the god’s table.

But don’t breath a sigh of relief yet; the government-god isn’t done taking you to the cleaners yet.

According to a piece at the Wall Street Journal by  F. James Sensenbrenner Jr., the internationalists (of whom President Obama is most definitely one) have a plan to lighten your pocket by another $1,900 a year.

Last summer, China and the developing world announced the price for their cooperation on a global-warming treaty: up to 1% of the developed world’s gross domestic product. For the U.S., this would mean sending $140 billion a year to China, Iran, North Korea and Cuba, among other countries. This is in addition to the $28 billion we already distribute each year in foreign aid.

For a U.S. family of four, China’s demand comes to nearly $1,900 in yearly taxes.

Another $1,900 a year…on top of another $4,500 on domestic global warming tithes…on top of the tax burden you’re already carrying.

Hey, you didn’t breath a sigh of relief just now, did you?  Haven’t you learned what life under socialism is like yet?

The WSJ article says India claims it is owed some loot, too.

You didn’t seriously want to run your own life, now did you?  You weren’t really thinking you were entitled to keep the property you had earned, did you?

Your options as an American are pretty clear at this point: begin getting comfortable with with an all-powerful government as your master…or get busy organizing the next Tea Party and recruiting sane, Constitution-respecting candidates to replace the jerks pushing this anti-American garbage in the next election.

The choice is yours; take it while you still have some choice left in your life.
