Obama Administration Apologizes for Non-Existent Problem

globalwarmingearthburning9428Since assuming the presidency just three short months ago, President Barack Obama has gone on an unprecedented Blame America First campaign of apologies and national humiliations around the world.

He has cozied up to Venezuelan Marxist thug Hugo Chavez while treating the private enterprise engine of American prosperity like the enemy, incredulously claimed America fails to recognize Europe’s “leading role” in the world, his administration has changed the terrorist threat alert system to one color (white flag), linguistically transformed our enemies from “enemy combatants” to “misunderstood persons,”  relegated the war on terrorism to an “unpleasant afterthought,” hired radicals for his administration who think U.S. law should conform to the inferior principles of other nations, appointed people to his administration who would fit in better working for Hamas, and has bowed and scraped before a foreign king.

Now the UK Guardian brings us news of the latest American-self-flagellation at the hands of the Obama Administration:

The Obama administration issued a mea culpa today on America’s role in causing climate change, in a move to get the major economies working together on a global warming treaty.

Given the liberal proclivity to blame America for everything possible, we knew this couldn’t be long in coming.

She said the US recognised industrialised countries bore a responsibility: “Some countries like mine are responsible for past emissions.”

Past emissions…that haven’t done squat to change the temperature on planet earth one iota. These emissions aren’t any more responsible for any warming hear on Earth than they are for warming on Mars or Jupiter where scientists say warming is also occurring, nor are they any more relevant to any ice melting today than they were for making it warm enough for the Vikings to colonize Greenland and plant vineyards 1,000 years ago.

This quote from the Guardian is a good one, too:

She wanted China and India to grow their economies: “We want people to have a higher standard of living.”

Yes, the hysterical liberals want exemptions for some of the worst polluters in the world…while they cripple the economy (and the standard of living) of the nation they were ostensibly elected to care for.

It has become clear beyond any doubt that the liberal establishment in Washington D.C. would rather prostrate America before foreign countries and smack their own country with electric bill increases of 40% or more and bankrupt our primary electricity industry.  As Rep. Henry Waxman (D-CA) illustrated last week, foreign dictators have higher standing with Democrats than the American people.

Perhaps I should stop worrying about foreign enemies of the United States.  With “representatives” of the people like this, there’s little need for foreigners to expend their energy to bring America down.

I truly hope there is something left to salvage of the United States in three years and seven months; at the rate we’re going, the next election may be too late.

Where are your facts that our electric bills will increase 40% or more. I agree that global warming is not due to mankind and think the Dems are nuts to engage in this hysteria, but also like to be accurate when ststing facts( like the 40& increase). What study or analysis has been done to prove that statement ?
  • Thanks for asking. As the American people realize what this scheme is really going to cost them, the heat is going to turn up on the Washington politicians, and they'll engage in some heavy denial. We should keep these references handy.

That $650 billion (low estimate) to $1.6 trillion (high estimate) they plan to raise for the government coffers through this cap and trade scheme is going to mean a HUGE increase in utility rates.

Here are some links to articles (from middle-of-the-road to liberal news outlets) citing Public Utilities Commission and other utilities managers stating the current cap-and-trade proposal would raise costs in South Dakota anywhere from 41-48%

    http://argusleader.com/article/20090412/NEWS/90...

This one from North Dakota cites a 40% increase:

And as the article points out, we'll probably fare better here in the Dakotas than a lot of other states. I have seen some other figures that cite a national average of about a 40-43% increase, though I couldn't find them at a moment's notice.

This one from about a year ago, examining a proposal at that time, estimated TRIPLE the costs:

    http://www.keloland.com/NewsDetail6162.cfm?Id=0...

And who knows if the current proposal might not swing back to a triple increase.

I hope you followed the link regarding Obama's intent to bankrupt the coal industry--where we get about half of our electricity in the United States: http://www.dakotavoice.com/2008/11/not-just-aud.... And who will pay the most as liberals slam these industries? You and me.

The American people really need to wake up to the harsh reality that they have elected a government that views them with hostile contempt, who view the American people as a minor consideration on the road to their socialist agenda.

The facts seem to be there allright. Like I said earlier,I think C02 induced global warming has not been proven, but something tells me continual dumping of any gas into the atmosphere may have consequences down the line. Cleaner energy does make sense. What then would be your proposal of shifting to cleaner energy sources. The public utilities wont do it unless the profit is there or their hand is forced, kind of like the car emission issues that were waged so heavily two and three decades ago. Are you then advocating leaving things as they are to save on rate increases?
  • Yes, as usual I think things will proceed much better if we keep government the heck out of the free market.

Cleaner energy sources will come along sooner or later. Technological innovation will eventually make it possible, and when it does, nothing will stop it from becoming widespread at the lowest cost possible.

We couldn't hurry the automobile along any faster than it was going to come...and we couldn't hold it back and protect the horse and wagon industry once it did.

In the meantime, things are doing just fine without the heavy hand of government to ruin the economy and our quality of life.
