Good Media Coverage Coming in for SD Tea Parties

j0401787It seems not all of the media are turning up their liberal noses at the Tax Day Tea Parties coming tomorrow.

Here in South Dakota, two of the state’s biggest television news outlets are already covering the event.

Black Hills Fox has a story and a video at this link.  They provided some nice, objective journalism for which they have my appreciation.

Keloland News also has an article and a video here.  KELO’s coverage is also a good objective piece.  Many thanks to both Black Hills Fox and Keloland for exemplifying good objective journalism.

I knew the folks in Sioux Falls got a jump on us here in Rapid City and that they had a more extensive program planned.  KELO gives some details about what Allen Unruh and the folks in Sioux Falls have in store:

The one held in Sioux Falls will feature a modern day Boston Tea Party…Complete with a ship, crates thrown into the lake will represent the money American workers are handing back to the government tax day. Unruh’s already heard from people of all affiliations and backgrounds.

“We’ve got a big banner for everybody to sign, that’s gonna be there, which we’ll take to Washington, D.C.,” Unruh said.

I’d sure like to see that, and I’m sure they’ll have folks taking pictures and video there.

But we’re going to have a great time in Rapid City, too!  Hope to see you there!

I see you're still confusing "objective" with "one sided." The KELO article is pretty much an ad for the event and doesn't mention any opposing viewpoint. Though, to be fair to them, they probably couldn't find any critics to interview because we've been too busy laughing at how stupid these teabag parties are.
  • Ah, no, it is you who is confusing objective journalism with liberal propaganda.

You see, the "mainstream" media typically gives glowing reports of liberal causes--which shows not only in what they say and what they don't say but also in their body language, facial expressions and intonations--and if a differing opinion is presented at all, it's usually in an offhand "oh, and there are some fringe Rightwingers out there who disagree. Moving on..." manner. Conservative causes, events and opinions, meanwhile, usually get this kind of coverage: "There is an event/belief out there...but it's really screwed up and unscientific and most people don't believe that anyway and here's 6 "objective" people from liberal organizations to tell you why these conservatives are nuts." Again, accompanied by the disdainful words/body language/intonation and so forth.

KELO and KEVN set a good example for objective journalism that some other news outlets could really learn from...if they were interested in providing good journalism in the first place.
