Dennis Miller on the Obama Bow

screengrab258Miller Time is usually good on Fox News, but Dennis Miller was in rare form during this segment. I was nearly crying with laughter a couple of times.

Apparently President Obama’s handlers have come up with an excuse to try and “explain” his very obvious deep bow to the king of Saudi Arabia last week: he was reaching down to shake the king’s hand.

You know, I’m getting my leg pulled so much lately I feel the need to turn myself into an arachnid because I’m running out of other legs to pull.

I’ve shaken hands with a lot of people–my size, taller, shorter–and I’ve never bowed to the waist like that to do it–nor have I seen anyone else do so…other than someone bowing in subservience to royalty.

It takes the Obama White House six days to come up with a smoke-screen for this bow to a foreign despot…and this is all they can manage? Man, if a government’s going to steal my hard-earned dollars and give them to someone else, the least they could do is compensate me a little with more credible entertainment than this!

Says Miller: “The guy [Obama] came up to a guy [King Abdullah] dressed up like Sgt. Bilko in a sketch and bent over down to his hips.  Whatever you want to call that, it looks weird.  He’s the President of the United States.”

Still looks like a bow to me (and it was).

Dennis, it wasn't a bow. And the reason it wasn't a bow is, it was a KISS. Look at the clip carefully. Just prior to the alledged bow, Obama grasps the Saudis hand. the view is blocked by the gentleman between the action and the camera but it is easy to see what has happened. This muslim president has just bent low and kissed the hand of this yahoo.

So can we have Millers comments on this:

  • You libs are hilarious, with the feeble and transparent lengths you'll go to in order to try and excuse the disgraceful behavior of President Obama.

Do you even know what is happening in the photo at this link? If you don't perhaps you can be excused for attempting to mislead people; perhaps you've been misled by other liberals yourself.

In the photo, President Bush is being given an award by the king, one that hangs around the neck. As practically everyone does when presented a medal which goes around the neck, Bush bows his head--not in a gesture of submission or reverence--but merely to facilitate the giver's ability to put the medal over the recipient's head.

I know many liberals loathe competition, excellence and winners, but surely you have seen such a ceremony before.

President Obama, on the other hand, was clearly not being presented with an award that went around his neck. Rather, he bent over--grossly over--in what was clearly a gesture of submission to a superior monarch.

If he wants to do that as a private citizen, I suppose he's entitled to humiliate himself thusly. But most Americans cherish the fact that they are free born and owe no allegiance, loyalty or reverence to any king, and find such an act repugnant.

And when their president does it (as the chief representative of the American people), they are personally offended and shamed by it.

    And rightly so.
