Congress: Treating Americans Worse than Foreign Dictators
Rep. Henry Waxman (D-CA) really shows his true colors in this hearing with former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich.
The hearings were on the global warming nonsense and the cap-and-trade tax proposed by the Obama Administration that will raise everyone’s electric bills by 40% or more.
Oh, go ahead and drink the liberal Koolaid and believe that “we’re just going after those evil coal-burning companies, not you, our beloved ‘little guy’” prattle. If you think the cost of this tax in honor of a faerie tale won’t get passed on to you, the consumer, have another mug of Koolaid.
Waxman acts like the typical spoiled brat in this video segment, demonizing Gingirch from his ivory tower because Gingirch has the gall to point out that this emperor has no clothes, then wants to deny Gingrich an opportunity to respond.
Then when he grudgingly allows Gingrich to respond–because it is pointed out by another panel member that they rolled out the red carpet and threw rose petals for Al Gore, the High Priest of the Religion of Global Warming–Waxman continues to interrupt Gingrich.
Though this is about environmentalism and global warming, perhaps the most interesting thing in this whole exchange is that Waxman’s attitude about evil, and about the American people, comes out in all its ugliness here…and it is a common attitude on the Left.
At about 4:25 into the clip, Waxman says
Mr. Gingrich, I’m sure glad you’re not in charge of foreign policy. You think the only way to incentivize a country is by offering them more and more carrots? You’ve got to have some threat, and sometimes you have to say, “To incentivize you, we’re going to give you some assistance, but there are going to be consequences.
GINGRICH: Mr. Chairman, I don’t think of American citizens the way I think of foreign dictators, and I don’t think this congress should punish the American people.
Hear, hear! Actually Gingrich was slightly off (but his point was still dead-on): liberals don’t think of American citizens the way they think of foreign dictators–they are more hostile to and contemptuous of the American people than they are foreign dictators.
This is EXACTLY the way liberals want to deal with evil in the international community: offer an endless supply of cookies and carrots. But when it comes to the American people–the people they ostensibly represent, the people they ostensibly work to serve–it’s punish, punish, punish… manipulate, manipulate, manipulate… control, control, control.
Take note: Waxman and his liberal friends are far more friendly to evil in the international community than they are toward the people they are supposed to serve.
