Spending Other People’s Money Wisely
President Barack Obama says he wants Congress to spend our tax dollars wisely. In his Stoplight® commentary, Stuart Shepard encourages the president to follow through with his promise.
Spending one’s own money wisely is, well, wise.
Spending someone else’s money wisely is more than just wise: it is imperative.
Elected officials are the custodians of the taxes paid by the citizens. They have an important duty to spend only what must be spent, and take great care not to waste the property with which they have been entrusted.
Those who don’t safeguard the public trust should be fired, and fired quickly.
