Spearfish, Tea and Yankton South Dakota Tea Parties

- Bill Nachatilo
We now have five cities in South Dakota planning Tax Day Tea Parties.
A few weeks ago, the people of Sioux Falls announced they would be joining hundreds of other cities across the nation in a Tax Day Tea Party to protest the gross irresponsibility coming from Washington D.C.
Last week, the people of Rapid City held their first planning meeting to hold a Tea Party on Tax Day, April 15; weather permitting, they will meet again tomorrow at 11:45 am at Oma’s German Restaurant across from KMart on East North Street near the intersection of Cambell Street.
Over the weekend I learned at the National TEA Party Day website that Bill Nachatilo, formerly with the South Dakota Family Policy Council, is organizing a Tea Party in Spearfish. Bill says the Spearfish group will have an organization meeting tomorrow, Tuesday, March 31st, at 7:30 a.m., at the Perkins Restaurant on I-90 in Spearfish. You can contact Bill through the National TEA Party website locations page.
As I checked that page just now, I found that the cities of Tea, South Dakota and Yankton, South Dakota are also planning Tax Day Tea Parties. There is contact information for those cities also on the website.
(UPDATE: Bill tells me that due to the blizzard, the March 31 meeting will be rescheduled. Check with Bill via the contact form on the National TEA Party Day website or here at Dakota Voice for additional info)
That brings the total number of South Dakota cities holding Tax Day Tea Parties to five–not bad for a sparsely-populated state like ours.
But the spirit of freedom and Americanism runs strong in this little state, as it does in many places across the United States. The last count I saw listed about 700 tea parties scheduled for April 15, and that number is obviously growing all the time.
As our ancestors took a stand against government oppression and tyranny at the Boston Tea Party, so we must now take a stand. The contempt of many of our elected “representatives” in Washington for our Constitution and good sense have left us no choice.
Take heed, you socialists in Washington D.C. The good people of the United States have had about enough of your wasting of our money and stealing of our freedoms.
We’re getting ready to send you that message LOUD and CLEAR. And we’re getting ready to go to the mat, if need be, to ensure you HEED it. We love our country too much to stand idly be and see you squander our American heritage.
Remember what the Founder Thomas Jefferson said, “A little revolution now and then is a good thing.”
