A Coward Who WILL Talk About Race

“We could probably be more constructive in facing up to sort of the painful legacy of slavery and Jim Crow and discrimination.” – Obama, after a five-second pause (no doubt to think about what would ‘play’ best with the public), when asked if he agreed with his AG’s comments that America is ‘a nation of cowards when it comes to talking about race.’

More constructive? The president, the AG, the heads of both major political parties are black. The black economy, if separated from the U.S., would be the 26th most prosperous nation in the world. And we’re ‘cowards’ because we don’t talk more about race?

What does that make the AG, Eric Holder, and every other ‘black leader,’ then, when the illegitimacy rate for blacks is over 70%, when the high-school drop-out rate for black teens is over 50%, and when black-on-black crime is responsible for 95% of the murders in this country? Are they ‘cowards’ for not confronting the vaunted ‘black community’ more aggressively about their responsibilities to teach moral values to their children? Sixty per cent of prison population is black…is that because we don’t talk more about race, or because race hustlers (like Holder, Jackson, Sharpton, et al) would be out of work if black people started acting more responsibly across the board.

‘Acting white’ in school – i.e., speaking English correctly, instead of using ghetto slang and ‘cool’ gibberish; actually studying and trying to prepare for jobs; etc. – is something for which young blacks are assailed and ostracized by their peers. Which cowardly ‘black leader’ has addressed that with any degree of seriousness (with the exception of Bill Cosby)?

Seems to me that the worst racism existing in the U.S. today is that which blacks hold towards whites. Jim Crow has been gone for half a century, slavery for a century and a half. . . when do blacks stop using that stuff as a crutch to explain what is actually their own laziness and irresponsibility: offered all the opportunities in the world, given special breaks and scholarships, given….’given’ practically everything I and many other poor white people would have loved to have had while growing up … yet all we hear is how ‘unfair’ the system is to blacks, and how we need a new conversation about race.

OK, let the conversation begin with this: Clean up your own act and stop blaming your irresponsibilities on whites. Stop perpetrating most of the crime in this country, although you’re only 13% of the population; expect, no…demand…effort and performance from your children; do what every emigrant group in history has done, with great success: accept and live by the accepted societal mores, standards and values, and then see how your lives turn out.

As long as you glorify punk thugs who wouldn’t work if given a job, who celebrate treating women like pieces of meat, celebrate violence as the solution to every situation where you don’t get what you want (even though you didn’t work for it and don’t deserve it!)…you’ll BE second-class citizens, and rightly so. It’s not ‘acting white’ to adhere to standards of behavior that thousands of years of human history have proven to provide the greatest safety, opportunity and peace…it’s being a decent human being.

Want to talk some more, Mr. Holder?

It's funny how easy you can sit back and say that. Blacks are blaming whites. The whites kept blacks in slavery you can't begin to imagine how it feels to have something taken away from you and be scorn. Because this was something done to humans that would not be done to a dog. Slavery has played a big part and if you look at history that's all the white man done was take. They didnt work hard for anything. Do you know what that does to a mother, father, son, daughter, to watch your mom or dad get beat and family hung for nothing cause they wanted freedom. Have you daughter raped in front of you and not be able to help. Have your child lay across the floor while this old white bastard puts his foot on their back. When you whites have gone through this for the time our people have then give your opinion. To be beat blamed for crimes because these white so called women yell rape. That's alot to deal with to live in poverty and don't understand while your there. This has had a big impact on blacks. Why not provide us help. To talk about this. Put history back in school so our children can learn and appreciate theie race, and not ashamed. This country was built on the backs of blacks and why are whites still running it? Answer that where is our land. To be born and no record of your birth. SO you tell me when your people can explain this or go through this then you can talk. Right now you are as just as your people were. COWARDS and thats a shame you all still cant admit your wrong doing. But that you all history to take and destroy the devil himself
  • Does anyone deny slavery did not happen in the United States 150 years ago? No.

Are their any victims of American slavery around today, that we may apologize to and/or compensate? No.

Slavery in America was a terrible thing (slavery is terrible where ever it's practiced), but it is well past time to move on, and well beyond an excuse for the troubles faced by the black community today--which are almost entirely because blacks (once one of the greatest examples of faith in the face of adversity) have abandoned their moral foundation and are floundering in a sea of moral ambiguity.

Americans of all colors really need to stop being proud of being black, stop being proud of being white, stop being proud of their Irish ancestry (or whatever), and start taking pride in being American, and taking pride in the American way of life which includes freedom, personal responsibility, self-determination, and a strong moral foundation.

Where are these numbers coming from? The Bureau of Justice Statistics puts the percentage of murders committed by Blacks and where the victim is black at roughly 50%. High for 13% of the population, but nothing like 95%.

The National Center for Education Statistics lists the high school completion rate for Blacks in 2006 as 83.7%.
  • A courageous piece, Mr. Scates. The truth spoken here is apparent to almost all whites and to a good many blacks. Why can't the majority of blacks see it? Because many have been deprived of a home life, a decent education and a moral foundation. These are not the failings of a race, they are the failings of liberalism. A good number of blacks and whites have accepted the slavery of government dependency for the "easy" life of joblessness, irresponsibility and promiscuity--chains that bind more tightly and stronger than any used during the slave trade.
