legis4224Lots of action in the South Dakota legislature, including a “bait and switch” on a hate crimes bill.

SB 156 was originally written to add “social status, or economic status” to a list of “hate crimes” in SDCL  22-19B-1.  However, today that language was taken out of the bill and amended in was “sexual orientation, or gender identity.”

It would would like to make an immoral, unnatural and unhealthy sexual behavior become a protected behavior, and criminalize thought while doing so.

Thanks to Senators Tieszen and Schmidt for voting “No” to this bad legislation.
