Reduced Posting

Karissa and Justin at Capitol, 2007
Posting will be reduced this afternoon and tomorrow.
My daughter Karissa and I will be driving to Pierre for the one-day TeenPact class.
TeenPact is a national program which helps young people learn more about their government and equips them to be better citizens. Though most of the students involved are homeschoolers, I understand that it is open to students from any school.
There is a 4-day class that has been going on this week, but my daughter is only old enough for the 1-day class.
In preparation, she has already been reading about citizenship. She has also written a letter to Rep. Don Kopp, one of our state representatives, and has written a bill that will be presented to her TeenPact group for consideration.
Our state and nation desperately needs young people who are knowledgeable of government and informed on the issues. Even more so we need young people who understand the Christian worldview to be involved in the public square, because our nation was founded by people with this worldview and our government was intended to operate in harmony with it.
As John Adams said:
We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.
I may check in later with updates as time permits. And if the weather cooperates, we hope to be back home sometime Friday night. Mom and Justin will be holding down the fort while we’re gone.
