Daschle Out. America Cares.

Daschle announced his withdrawl from his nomination as Health and Human Services Secretary. Daschle has admitted failing to pay taxes in excess of $100,000 but insists it was an innocent mistake and no penalties were accrued (Gee, I wonder if the IRS would be so nice to me?).

The budget for HHS was in excess of 700 Billion dollars in 2008, nearly one-third of the national budget. Additionally, under the “O,” even many more billions will be budgeted to help bring in the long-promised “free healthcare for all.” Daschle would have been in control of this huge bureaucracy, but, apparently, the taint of being a tax cheat was too much to ask of Americans who will be asked to sacrifice more and more for the “O” over the next four years.

This restores just a smidgen of confidence in our Federal system. Even though his withdrawal was probably because there were "just too many tax cheats." Daschle has long been a poster boy for Inside-The-Beltway corruption. But, I'm sure we'll be seeing more of him in some role.
