Barney Frank: No Reservations about Borrowing Billions from Communist Thugs

CB013129It seems Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA) has no problems with the United States borrowing billions from communist thugs.

The national economy has taken a huge hit recently, leaving the United States economically weak and vulnerable–and our military strength depends on our economic strength to keep it ready.

Yet Frank has no qualms about borrowing huge amounts of money and becoming a debtor to a communist country that has (a) slaughtered its own freedom-seeking people in Tiananmen Square, (b) denies its own people religious freedom, (c) threatens nearby nations, and (d) chopped up one of our military aircraft and held its aircrew captive for nearly two weeks.

CNS News reports

This does not trouble House Financial Services Committee Chairman Barney Frank (D-Mass.), however, who said he was comfortable borrowing more money from China and that he didn’t see why people were concerned.

“I don’t understand what the problem would be,” Frank told CNSNews.com. “I don’t think it would give them any undue influence over us. If they want to lend us money, that’s a good thing.”

This is the guy who paid Steve Gobie for sex, made Gobie his boyfriend, used his official capacity to fix parking tickets for Gobie, and Gobie ended up running a prostitution service out of Frank’s apartment…and Frank claims he didn’t know about Gobie’s homosexual prostitution business in his own home?

This is the guy who was warned about the shenanigans at Fannie and Freddie, and the looming financial implosion, and saw absolutely nothing to be worried about.

The capacity liberals have for bearing their neck before their enemies while simultaneously handing their enemies a knife never ceases to amaze me.

It would be one thing if such dangerous naivete placed only their own life at risk.  But when foolish liberals like this rise to positions of national leadership, their recklessness places the entire nation–and the millions of people in it–in grave danger.

Barney (the) Frank (D-MA) should be seen on nation wide TV doing the perp walk in stripes and cuffs, along with Chris (the sheriff of doddingham) Dodd for causing so much damage to the US banking industry and the retirement accounts of the American people. By the way, Maryland is (MD) .

And just who do you think is paying for the Iraq War? Us? We're broke. Most of the money to pay for the war has come from... guess who? China! Yet I imagine you wouldn't say George Bush was "handing our enemies a knife" now would you?
  • You've been reading too much Daily Kos and MoveOn.org.

Do you know how much of our annual budget we've spent on the Iraq war? About 3%. Our total defense budget is still less than 20% of the total--even WITH the cost of Iraq.

Meanwhile, over 50% of our budget is spent on socialist programs that are illegal under the United States Constitution.

Do they not teach anything useful in school or college anymore?
  • Braden
Yes that may all be true, but it doesn't stop the fact that China owned about 20% of U.S. public debt before any of the bailouts. And it doesn't stop the fact that alot of the money used to fight the Iraq War comes from China.

I'm not saying Barnie Frank is the smartest human being alive. I'm saying he's not the reason we are in debt to China, nor even a major part of it. Is he suggesting we borrow money from a Communist country? Yes. But is he the first to do so? Hardly. China needs the U.S. economy to stay strong and vibrant so we have enough money to waste on their lead-filled toys.
  • That's a good point, Braden. We were already too beholden to these anti-American thugs to begin with. Have you heard the wisdom that the borrower is servant to the lender? There is profound truth in that old saying.

We were crazy to make ourselves servant to these communist thugs before, when our economy was strong and we were doing well. To add to that now, at a time when we are weak and over-extended, is stark-raving mad.

It's like this. Last year, we had a good-paying job and were borrowing from a loan shark to pay for groceries and a nice cocaine habit we had. We could more or less keep up with the payments to the shark.

Now, our hours at work have been cut back, from 40 hours a week to about 25...and the boss has no idea when that will change. And we've gone back to the loan shark for even more money, and we plan to spend most of this loan on an even bigger cocaine habit than we had last year.

    How smart is that?

Sometimes these days it seems as if the United States is suicidal. I fear we really are.
  • Braden
No argument here, I couldn't agree more.

Barney Frank represents Massachusetts, not Maryland.
  • I thought that was the case, but I was in a hurry and apparently crossed up Steny Hoyer and Frank as I put this together. Thanks for the correction.
