Poll Results: Why did the Virginia Tech massacre happen?

Poll results for the weekly poll I've been running in the upper right corner of the blog are in:

  • Easy access to guns 53.01%
  • Not enough people legally armed on campus 1.20%
  • Poor campus security 0.80%
  • Slow police response 0.40%
  • A hedonistic society 0.40%
  • Seung-Hui Cho was mentally il 39.36%
  • Seung-Hui Cho committed an evil act 4.82%

I suspect someone got past the poll's setting which should have allowed only one vote per person (something like 129 votes suddenly showed up on the top answer overnight). Or someone with a particular opinion on the matter may have emailed others with that same opinion and asked them to vote. It's hard to tell, as the polling website doesn't provide a whole lot of feedback regarding information that could help me determine that.

I'll be watching this closely in the future. If other poll results appear to end up slanted, I might try another polling outfit or build my own.

Regardless, thanks to those of you who participated! The new one on global warming is up.
