THE WORLD HAS GONE MAD
(12/14/2006) Victim of a World Gone Mad By Carrie K. Hutchens I was reading an article today in the North Country Gazette entitled, "Four-Year-Old Suspended For Sexual Contact." You read that right. A four year old. Sexual contact. And any doubted me when I said this world has gone mad? The article says in part, "BELLMEAD, TX---A four-year-old pre-kindergarten student is in in-school suspension for demonstrating what the school administration says was "inappropriate physical behavior interpreted as sexual contact and/or sexual harassment". Damarcus Blackwell, the child's father, says the boy was hugging his teacher's aide but the school principal says that the while lining up to get on the school bus last month, the boy rubbed his face in the chest of a female employee." Okay, how much more ridiculous can we get than that? Put nursing newborns on the sexual offender list? Chests are something we all have. Children are raised resting against them. They are held against them. They are hugged against them. Arms holding a child to a chest is an act that children interpret as love and security. Now, this administration, at La Vega Primary School, wants to claim otherwise and go on to suggest a four year old had intentions of making sexual contact and acting in a fashion he knew to be sexual harassment? Whoa! Did this school time travel back from the future when children are born out of test tubes and raised like little robots? Better check their time passports! The La Vega Primary School, as reported in the information I read about the incident, doesn't sound like a healthy or child-friendly environment to me. Maybe Texas officials should be investigating the school and their qualifications to deal with such young children, rather than allowing the school to so easily put such a serious allegation of "inappropriate physical contact" on the child's record that will follow him on through his academic career. This isn't a joke! It isn't a small matter! What has happened is quite serious! People better start taking a real close look at what is happening in this world around them. The world has gone mad and it isn't done yet! A four year old is suspended for sexual contact? To the remaining sane: That ought to say it all!
