THE WORLD HAS GONE MAD
8/26/2006 Golden Vote By Carrie K. Hutchens There was something familiar and lurking in the shadows of my memory. It was just beyond my grasp. What was it that was nagging at me, I wondered. Then suddenly it hit me tonight. Have you ever been around a person that is everyone's best friend and no one's friend? The one that says all the right things to each person individually, though not the same thing to all people always? The one that loves the color blue, when speaking to a blue lover, and the hater of blue when speaking to a blue hater? The one that seeks to make you feel important, while really only caring that you think they think you are to get in your good graces? Yeah, the good ole brown noser. Some brown nosers are harmless and even entertaining at times, but NONE should EVER be taken lightly! None should ever be considered as fulfilling a person's need for a sense of importance or reliance upon, because it is all an illusion after all. A mere and simple "illusion" to get the brown noser whatever it is he/she is after to benefit "self". The one being brown nosed is just a "means" to the end. The brown noser knows that and plays upon it. Oh does the brown noser do that, and too often does it all too well for too long before the big slap of reality in the face that too many didn't see coming. I would love being told how beautiful I am as a person and how my ideas are the best since sliced bread (don't we all?), but when the brown noser tells me so, I know I have a mystery to solve. What is it that little burger is after? What door does it think I can open and do I actual want to open it? It is something for all of us to consider as we move into voting season! How do we use our "golden vote"? Do we wish upon a star... throw a coin in the well... pull a handle after the quarter... ask for another card or spin of the wheel, or do we ask for the facts of the matters that are going to affect us, and others, once it is all said and done? Do we vote for the bachelor because he is hot or the family man because he is stable? Do we vote for the guy that teases us with possibility or the guy that tells us like it is? Do we vote because we suppose or because we know? I guess we will know the results of "who wins" once it is all over with, but will we really know how we got there and will it be where we really should be and hoped to be or a brown noser mistake we didn't see coming and slapped us right up side the face in a way we never saw coming? It hit me tonight. Did it hit me only?
