Pro-Abortion Minority Ignores Evidence, Misleads With Report

By DR. Allen Unruh

There is much confusion regarding the South Dakota Legislative Task Force on Abortion. I would like to clarify the misinformation that has been disseminated by the media and the opposition. First, there was only ONE Task Force. Four people out of seventeen decided to appoint themselves to be the task force after they stormed out of the room when they lost the vote. They prepared their own report after the fact, and submitted it to the governor, all the South Dakota  legislators, the state and local media, and the national media and probably most of all their friends and relatives on their e-mail list. Four people out of seventeen does not a task force make!

There was only ONE report. The South Dakota legislature made no provisions for a minority report and it is totally irrelevant. Can you think of any time in the history of the South Dakota legislature where 3-4 people who lose on an issue in committee take it upon themselves to rant and rave and decide they will circumvent the political process and send their report to everyone they can and the governor to sign. It is an insult to the political process. They love to quote the Constitution but their own conduct and report violates the very foundation of the Constitution which is REPRESENTATIVE GOVERNMENT. If they want to win, they need to elect the majority in the house and senate and governor who believe like them. That's the way the process works.

Their ideology is to provide everyone with unlimited latex, and for unlimited abortions when latex doesn't work. They ignore all the evidence that has occurred in the last 33 years. They want everyone to believe nobody has ever been harmed from an abortion. That anyone who has mental problems from their abortion is a psycho. They ignore all the technology that has produced 4-D ultrasound demonstrating the development of the unborn throughout development. They want to just ignore all the DNA evidence that proves the uniqueness of each individual. They want to just ignore all the scientific research in the field of molecular biology and the scientific proof that everything that makes you human is there the moment after conception. In other words, anything that humanizes the unborn should be discarded.

In addition, let's ignore the 3,500 pages of research that the Task Force reviewed. Let's ignore the thousands of affidavits of women who testified and signed their affidavit on how their lives have been permanently scarred from their abortion. That's just anecdotal evidence, and besides all of them weren't from South Dakota. Let's ignore the testimony of 54 national experts who reviewed how women have been harmed from abortion.

The purpose of the task force was to investigate the evidence. The South Dakota legislature was very specific on what they wanted us to research. We complied with all those recommendations in every area of abortion for a comprehensive report. For the opposition to complain that they weren't the majority is ridiculous. If they were it would have been like hiring the mafia to fight crime. We would have been putting the wolf in charge of the henhouse or the lunatics in charge of the asylum. They proved in their report they would have ignored all the evidence and research that was done the last 33 years. The U.S. Supreme Court, in making the Roe v. Wade decision, assumed there would be a doctor/patient relationship. They assumed there would be "informed consent" giving all the risks of abortion and facts about the unborn. The Supreme Court had no idea how abortion would affect women mentally and physically. We now know, based on new evidence and research and technology the Supreme Court made many incorrect assumptions. We now know this information, and the results are compelling. The first duty of government is to protect innocent human life. We pray the South Dakota legislature will act on this comprehensive report.

The opposition want a world with laws based on penumbras: a man made utopia put together by ideologues who appoint themselves god of the universe. They define freedom as license and no moral restraints. If it feels good, do it. It's a world of free love for everyone, but there's always free cheese in a mousetrap. Moral restraints are the very foundation of liberty. The government in Hitler's Nazi Germany said Jews were not "Persons" according to the law. The Supreme Court in the Dred Scott decision of 1857 said black people were not "persons" according to the law. We all know the effects of those decisions.

We now can prove scientifically the unborn are persons from the moment of conception with infinite value. Every South Dakota citizen needs to read this report. Is it worth spending a million dollars to challenge Roe V Wade? A mile of highway costs a million dollars. Is saving millions of babies worth as much?

A big argument will be: Why should the taxpayers of South Dakota pay for a huge legal battle? Well, we want to raise enough to dispel that argument by getting contributors who are pro-life to make a difference. If you would like to make a contribution to a legal fund, please let me know.
